Why Must We Run the Race?

I am always challenged as I read the response of God’s people to His calling as recorded in scripture. Today I reflected on Isaiah’s response to His voice:

It seems like only yesterday that I was a kid growing up on a farm in southwest Oklahoma. Before I knew it, God had me through veterinary school and whisked me away to Ethiopia where I met Fred, we married, and soon I was the mother of 4 children of my own. When I turned 50, my daughter Cori made a birthday card for me that was rather sobering; she wrote: “Half a Century?! Feeling old?” (Well, I wasn’t, but now I am!) My other daughter Jodi drew a 100-year timeline on her card with a “You are here!” in the middle. Half a century…that sounds old, doesn’t it? By: Dr. Val Lomilo, CVM Fieldstaff serving in Uganda

I’d like to invite you on a journey. Travel with me for a few minutes, into our world, here in Africa. Don’t worry about the long 30 hour flight, let’s zap you here on a beam of light; 186,000 miles/second for 8,904 miles only takes 0.048 seconds from you to me.

Ok, now you are here. You are all most welcome, as we say here in Uganda, which sometimes sounds like, “You are almost welcome!” Let me introduce you to two friends that Waffle and I will be spending a lot of time with over this next year.
