Who We Are
Tim and Cathi met at the University of Tulsa and married in 1986. Upon graduation,Tim practiced in Tulsa and after five years the Lord began a series of unexpected transitions. They were led to North Carolina where eventually Tim opened a practice. The Emerys participated in numerous short-term missions to Haiti, Uganda and Romania during this time. In 2004, when Cathi was pregnant with their eight child, they left their comfortable life to serve as long-term foreign missionaries in Ethiopia.
Northwest University has invited Tim to be a teaching clinician for their animal health program in Mafikeng, South Africa. This program trains the indigenous people in the animal healthcare field to enable them to support and better provide for their families. Most importantly, there will be opportunity to disciple and evangelize the students and faculty with the Gospel, sharing the hope they have in Jesus Christ. Tim and Cathi were blessed to meet Obekeng, a Setswana man who is the pastor of Calvary Baptist Church. Obekeng has a heart for evangelism and church planting in the local community where he was raised. It appears to be God's providence for the Emery's and Pastor Obekeng's paths to cross. The Lord has given Tim the desire to evangelize and teach in Ethiopia and now the Lord has opened the door for this opportunity once more in the villages of Mafikeng.
The Emerys will be partnering with Northwest University whose veterinary program began with the work of a veterinary missionary Dr. Dale Beigle in the 1980s until his retirement in 2008. Since then, the University has depended upon missionary veterinarians to teach due to the lack of South African professionals available to fill the positions. Tim will be working along side the veterinary clinicians to equip students with the necessary skills to function as animal health technicians.
