Dr. Kit Flowers
Executive Director, Mongolia/Mid-East, Western Canada, NW & SW Region Rep
Dr. Flowers has served as CVM’s President since 1994 and joins a terrific team of staff and volunteers in serving the vision and mission of CVM. Together they seek to join God in the work He is calling us to do. We are supported in this effort with a terrific Board of Advisors and by the staff of CRISTA Ministries. Kit serves in these efforts with his wife Jan.
Dr. Brad Frye
Program Director & Latin America Director
Dr. Frye provides leadership and direction for the International Program Team of CVM. This team recruits, trains and supports CVM full-time international staff and short-term volunteers. He has primary responsibility for oversight of the the CVM International and Native American Ministries in the Americas.
Dr. Karen Stoufer
Director of Training & Asia Regional Director
Dr. Stoufer’s passion is to facilitate training related to Christian rural community development, participatory training, raising of missionary kids, and cross-cultural skills so that long and short-term field staff can be effective. She and her family served in Nepal for 13 years with village animal health workers, women’s empowerment, literacy, water projects and the local church.
Dr. Fred Van Gorkom
International Partners Director & Africa Regional Director
God blessed Fred and Vicki with 25 years of veterinary development, church planting and mission leadership in Ethiopia. Now with wider focus, Fred is part of a team to mobilize, train, send and mentor long and short term veterinary missionaries, especially in Africa. He loves to share what God is doing, and to challenge people to pray, go or partner in the Great Commission.
U.S. Ministry Director
Krista oversees the coordination of all of the student and professional outreach ministry strategies for US ministry and Canada. This includes managing the Region Representatives and Event Coordinator. She also serves a local church with her husband Derek, who serves as a senior pastor.
Dr. Lauren Charles
Southeast Region Representative
Dr. Lauren is an Auburn grad, class of 2005. She lived and served with CVM in Bolivia for three years. There she quickly went from being single to having a family of four including her handsome husband, Jon, beautiful Bolivian daughter, Angie, and their Bolivian Labrador, Ruby. Her growing family brought her back to the US, where she’s currently based out of Louisville, KY. She’s added two sons to their family and she’s serving as CVM’s Southeast Region Representative.
Stephen oversees the development of CVM’s e-learning program. He has a passion for equipping people to serve in response to God’s call, and his role with CVM is to help train veterinary professionals for missions service.
International Missions Administrative Assistant
Malia has a background in international development as well as experience in and a heart for cross cultural ministry. Within her role, she supports the mobilization of short-term and long-term mission volunteers and staff through the CVM International Programs office. She is also responsible for coordinating the benefits process and application process for long-term staff.
Dr. Glenn Gaines
South Central Region Representative
Dr. Glenn Gaines is a 1982 Texas A&M graduate and practiced for 25 years with the majority of that in Brenham, Texas. He started doing mission trips in 1995 with CVM. He has been blessed to have traveled in 8 different countries. He left private practice in 2007 and he left the US, with his wife Kathy, to serve as field staff in Mongolia from 2007-2010. Dr. Glenn Gaines is now serving as a region representative for CVM.
Northeast Region Representative
Curtiss Gibbs joined CVM full-time after 12 years of pastoral ministry in the lcoal church, mostly focused on youth, college students, and missions. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia and is finishing his Mastor of Divinity from Fuller Theological Seminary. Curtiss loves connecting people to their calling and working to see individuals and groups thrive as they serve God. He and his wife, Shannon, have been married since 2003, and love to spend time outdoors and in the company of family and friends.
Dr. Suzanne Laidlaw
Eastern Canada Region Representative
Since 2015, Suzanne has worked part time with CVM as the Eastern Canada Representative. Suzanne completed her veterinary studies in Western Australia, then worked in Northern Ireland for two years and currently works part-time in Ontario as a mixed animal veterinarian. She has been on several short-term missions trips with CVM and is excited to be involved in serving Canadian veterinarians and students.
Dr. Monty Mathis
Monty provides pastoral care and encouragement for those exploring their call or serving in mission. He spent 20 years in ministry with CVM (Asia) with his family. Monty loves to help people grow closer to Christ. His wife, Shelley, returned to small animal medicine upon their return to the States. She is also very active in supporting and complementing Monty’s role in CVM.

Nina works with CVM’s e-learning team to design online resources.
Dr. Elizabeth Mendoza
North Central Region Representative
Elizabeth is a 2005 graduate of the Univ. of Tennessee College of Vet Med. She spent the first 9 years of her career in a busy small animal emergency and general practice in Upland, CA. Elizabeth will manage the following states: North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, Wisconsin and Illinois. She will also serve the following schools: University of Nebraska- Lincoln, Kansas State, Univ of Minnesota, Iowa State, Univ of Missouri, Univ of Wisonsin and Univ of Illinois.
Kellie served as a Missionary to Venezuela for 16 years before returning the U.S. She first joined CRISTA as Marketing Director for Senior Living in 2010 before venturing out as a Consultant. Kellie now serves CVM as Marketing Strategist, helping people connect and engage with all that CVM does here in the U.S. and around the world.
Short-term Missions Administrative Assistant
With a background in international community development, communication and fundraising, Lauren’s desire is to help equip and empower short-term volunteers for holistic, responsible, and effective service overseas. Her primary focus with CVM will be managing volunteers’ short-term fundraising accounts and trip details.
Evelyn is a veterinary technician who joined the CVM team out of the corporate project management world. She is excited to combine her faith with her vocation in support of veterinary missionaries around the nation and world.
Debbie coordinates all event planning for professional and student conferences, booth and breakfast/evening seminar logistics, and communication to speakers and volunteers. This includes support of CVM US Ministry Director, Region Representatives, State Representatives and Student Leadership.
Dr. Barry Schwenk
E-Learning Course Development Coordinator
Dr. Barry Schwenk began his relationship with CVM as a student at Kansas State University in 1995. He was challenged in ways that have forever changed his life. After practicing in the US for 7 years, he served with his wife Colette and three children (Emily, Jonas and Simon) as CVM long term fieldworkers in Ethiopia for 6 years and as the CVM Southwest Region Representative for 4 years. Barry now serves part-time with CVM by coordinating E-learning modules geared towards veterinary professionals.
Short Term Missions Coordinator
Suzanne oversees the Short Term Missions program in CVM. She has a passion for providing opportunities and educating volunteers about Short Term Missions, both domestic and international. With her ministry background, Suzanne has a passion for walking beside others as they discern the Lord’s call in their lives. She and her large family of 5 kids and 2 dogs live in Edmonds Washington.
Deputation Marketing Strategist
Kristen is an experienced Marketing and Communications Strategist whose decade-plus experience has revolved around non-profit communications, growth strategies, fundraising, and content creation. She has been married to the great love of her life and best friend, Justin, for over almost two decades. Her family has been on many adventures and served churches in Seattle, Los Angeles, and New York City. Of all the things she has done in life, she is most proud of the adoption of her son – a 6-year journey that started in Africa and ended up in Nashville, Tennessee. Kristen and her family now call Seattle home.
Dr. Vicki Van Gorkom
Donor Services Coordinator
Vicki served as a CVM field staff member in Ethiopia from 1986 to 2008, at which time the Van Gorkoms moved back to the U.S. She has been working in the CVM home office as Coordinator of Donor Services since that time.
