Dr. Troy and Rebekah Sammons are from Modesto, California. Troy was born and raised in the Bay Area of CA. When he was in Vet school he had the opportunity to go to Cameroon and see a Vet sharing the word of God and it was during that time he knew serving the Lord overseas with his Veterinary profession was God’s plan. Rebekah was born and raised in the Valley of CA. From a young age she had a heart for missions and knew God was calling her to one day live overseas to serve him. They have three beautiful girls, Dakota, Kate, and Hope. When they married they both knew God wanted them to move overseas. God sent them for their first term, 3 years, to Nakuru, Kenya. The Sammons have been living there since Oct. 2009 and are now transitioning to South Sudan.
The Sammons will be joining an African Inland Mission (AIM) team working in the town of Torit, South Sudan. The ministry team’s focus will be to share the Gospel message with those that have never heard, commonly referred to as the unreached. There is more than 13 unreached people groups in the Eastern Equatorial State where Torit is located. The Torit area team will work to empower church leaders in the area to reach out to the rural unreached communities. Due to long history of civil war and drought the situation in South Sudan is very desperate and bleak, many are fleeing to the neighboring countries as refugees and there is severe need for holistic life transformation.
Through a CVM and AIM partnership the Sammons will specifically use veterinary medicine by training local church leaders with livestock husbandry skills, giving them skills to help transform their rural communities and provide for themselves. With your support both prayerfully and financially they hope to be used by God to make a difference in a broken nation.
