Dr. Troy and Rebekah Sammons are from Modesto, California. Troy was born and raised in the Bay Area. When he was in Vet school he had the opportunity to go to Cameroon and see a Vet sharing the word of God and it was during that time he knew serving the Lord overseas with his veterinary skills was God’s plan. Rebekah was born and raised in the San Joaquin Valley. From a young age, she had a heart for missions and knew God was calling her to one day live overseas to serve Him. God sent them to Nakuru, Kenya where they have carried out their calling since 2009. They have four beautiful children: three girls and a boy, Dakota, Kate, Hope, and Thomas Azariah.
The Sammons have recently transitioned to South Sudan, and through a partnership between CVM and African Inland Mission (AIM), joined a team working in the town of Torit. The ministry team’s focus is to share the Gospel message with those that have never heard it; commonly referred to as the unreached. There are more than 13 unreached people groups in the Eastern Equatorial State where Torit is located. The Torit team will work to empower church leaders in the area to reach out to the rural unreached communities. Due to the long history of civil war and drought the situation in South Sudan is very desperate and bleak. Many are fleeing to the neighboring countries as refugees and there is a severe need for holistic life transformation.
Through a CVM – AIM partnership, the Sammons will use veterinary medicine to train local church leaders in livestock husbandry practices; giving them skills and knowledge to help transform their rural communities and provide for themselves. With your support both prayerfully and financially, they hope to be used by God to make a difference in a broken nation.
